Information for DUI Defendants
In 2000 Kentucky DUI Laws
changed not only to emphasize the
importance of substance abuse prevention,
education, and treatment but the fines,
license suspension and jail time have been
increased. If you are guilty of a DUI there
will be other requirements in addition to
any fines and/or jail time that you receive.
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HAVE YOUR
DRIVING PRIVILEGES REINSTATED IF YOU
DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING
REQUIREMENTS.
1st Offense
License Suspension 30 to 120 days
Education/Treatment up to 90 days
Hardship License Yes after 30 days
2nd Offense
License Suspension 12 to 18 months
Education/Treatment 1 year
Hardship License Yes after 12 months
3rd Offense
License Suspension 2 to 3 years
Education/Treatment 1 year
Hardship License Yes after 2 years
4th Offense
License Suspension 5 years
Education/Treatment 1 year
Hardship License No
